Development & Regeneration: Common Themes and Important Differences

The formation of neuronal circuits during development and their regeneration after injury share certain similarities, but with distinct features. How we can use the insights learned in neural development to inform the designing of therapeutic strategies after injury is a major objective of this virtual conference.
Several leaders in this area of research will discuss the current status of development and regeneration studies across cellular, molecular, and circuit levels. The conference will start with examples illustrating how functional circuits are built and mature during development, with the second session focusing on regeneration studies in both PNS and CNS. The third session will highlight emerging theoretical and technical frontiers in studying injury and regeneration. The conference will conclude with presentations about rebuilding functional circuits for functional restoration toward translational applications.
After this virtual conference, participants are expected to have gained a broader perspective on the entire spectrum of research from neural development to functional restoration.
